Sadly, I must report that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be delayed – yet again – due to further polishing by CD Project Red. The new launch date is set to be the 19th November 2020.
Approximately 5 month ago I reported that Cyberpunk 2077’s release date was moved to the 17th September 2020 due to ongoing playtesting, fixing and polishing. During this time, a lot has changed for us all, but CD Project Red seems to have been managing their time and resources wisely in order to complete their work on Cyberpunk 2077. However, while journalists are receiving their copies for playtesting this very week, Co-Founder of CD Project Red Marcin Iwinski and Head of the Studio Adam Badowski came forth announcing that they are going to delay the release of Cyberpunk 2077 even further, in order to fully polish it and be sure that it upholds to their own quality standards.
These quality standards cover a massive horizontal and vertically scaled city-scape, supposedly filled to the brim with engaging content such as quests and cutscenes, but also comprise many skills and items all intertwined into intricate and complex systems making it quite tedious to sniff out potential bugs and inconsistencies in their “soon to be released, but yet again delayed” masterpiece called Cyberpunk 2077.
As they themselves stated in a community message (attached down below) they understand that they are gambling with the trust of both investors and loyal fans alike but took the risk anyway to guarantee an experience for years to come. They are very sorry to disappoint their fan base once again by delaying a highly anticipated game once again but feel like it is the right decision for everyone involved.
I for one can only hope, that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be as good in the end as it looks on both their released screenshots and published videos – especially after delaying the game twice. However, judging by the Witcher 3’s quality, I assume I am not going to be disappointed as I, and many others, adored the game – and if waiting for approximately 2 more month is going to make a significant impact on the game’s quality, then I am more than willing to wait. I hope you do too.
