Author's note:

Please note that we have split the guide into nine subsections, each focusing on one of the nine zones of the Digital World. Furthermore, we have ordered the recruitable Digimon by their in-game Field Guide numeration.

The Nigh Plains is the first zone you will enter after traveling to the Digital World. It does not contain many threats and therefore is the ideal starting ground for your early recruitment efforts.

Biyomon resides on the hill atop the center of the Vast Plateau. Talk to her after you recruited Birdramon, and she will join Flotia as well.

Tentomon stands in the center of the map atop the Vast Plateau near the river. Buy the offered Recovery Disc for 100 BITs, and he will join Flotia.

How to recruit

Palmon will request of you a Cheerful Apple, a Digistalk and a Salty Fruit. All of them spawn all around the Nigh Plains, and after handing them over, she will join your city.

How to recruit

Wormmon feels lost in this world as he has no purpose for his skills. After convincing him to create a Fishing Rod, he will ask of you to retrieve a Strong Branch. This Strong Branch is retrievable at a unique search point on the Forest Path. After collecting and handing over the stick, he will join Flotia. Additionally, he will gift you the Fishing Rod and a standard lure.

Wormmon reveals your Digimon's favorite and least favorite consumables.

How to recruit

Renamon dreams about cooking for someone special, such as the fabled Taomon. After recruiting Taomon, Renamon will be thrilled to make Taomon a worthy offering and asks of you to bring her a Digicarp. A Digicarp is a rare fish that can be fished up from every waterbody located on the Nigh Plains. Thus, you will have to recruit Wormmon first, to get ahold of a Fishing Rod. After fishing up a Digicarp, return to Renamon, and she will join Flotia.

Kabuterimon seeks out a worthy foe. Talk to him to initiate a fight. If you win, he will join Flotia.

Kuwagamon is looking for something called Royal Digijelly. This item can be found at a unique search point located halfway down the Forest Path. When handed over, Kuwagamon will proceed to join Flotia.

How to recruit

Amidst the Forest Path, a gluttonous Numemon awaits your arrival. When interacted with, it will request 5 Green Digistalk obtainable throughout the Nigh Plains. If you hand these mushrooms over, Numemon will initiate a battle. After winning, it will join your city.

The Server Desert is the second zone accessible right from the start of the game. It contains higher level Digimon, especially recruitable ones, and you will visit it quite frequently throughout Chapter 1. It lies to the west of the Nigh Plains.

Accept Togemon's quest.

How to recruit

Veemon is recruitable after getting a quest from Togemon. Tell him what Togemon told you, and he will challenge you to a battle. After winning, he will join your city.

How to recruit

Angemon asks you to find Hackmon, who chills at the Garbage Pile in Logic Volcano. After checking in on Hackmon and making him join your city, return to Angemon, and he will join too.

How to recruit

Togemon asks you to find and talk to Veemon. After finding Veemon and winning against him, return to her, and she will join too.

How to recruit

Gargomon joins Flotia as part of GrapLeomon's quest. From the beginning of Chapter 2 onward, you can interact with GrapLeomon located in Stepstep that is part of the Server Desert. He asks you to bring him some Cyber Grease to clean his weapons as they malfunctioned while he attempted to move the sandhill blocking the entrance to the Ohguino Wastelands. He recommends visiting his "Brother in arms" Gargomon, as he always has some at his disposal. Gargomon can be found on Tower Road and will join your city after giving you the Cyber Grease for GrapLeomon.

Unlock Flotia's city upgrade.

How to recruit

Garudamon appears when you approach the two material search points near the exit of Noise Storm. He proceeds to claim that these search points belong to him and that you would have to fight him to access them. After defeating him, he will cool down and join your city. It is to note, that you can beat him before the city upgrades in Chapter 1, but he will not join until Flotia's upgrade took place, which means that you will have to talk to him a second time if you beat him beforehand.

Entertainment - Treasure Hunter

Garudamon acts as a paid item locator or treasure hunter. You send him out exploring for a fee, and he retrieves useful items in return.

How to recruit

GrapLeomon joins your city after completing a short quest chain. From the beginning of Chapter 2 onward, you can interact with GrapLeomon located in Stepstep that is part of the Server Desert. Talk to Seraphimon after accepting Ikkakumon's quest and he will join your city.

How to recruit

To recruit Magnamon, you first have to talk to ExVeemon in the Ship 3.0 Cabin. He sends you out to find Veedramon, who is located in Freeze Way. After talking to him, Veedramon will join your cause and travel to Flotia. Afterward, Magnamon can be found in Noise Storm, but only on a Friday. Once encountered, he will join your city, if you can beat him in a battle.

KaiserGreymon joins as part of a lengthy quest chain. First, initiate his quest. Then, go to the southern part of the Palace of Thorns before noon to find a unique search point containing a Thorny Ivy. Bring the Thorny Ivy back to KaiserGreymon, and he will request a Speed Chip next. Give him this item too, and he will proceed to damage one of your Digimon with a total of 8.000 damage. Now, visit MagnaGarurumon in Layer 01 in the Infinite Cauldron. He will give you ten distinct items you have to return to KaiserGreymon, so make sure that you have room for at least ten items in your inventory. Take the items to KaiserGreymon and return then back to MagnaGarurumon. He will proceed to give you 20 items this time around. Return them to KaiserGreymon too, and both will join the city. Additionally, doing so will cause Susanoomon to appear in Logic Volcano.

After accepting Myotismon's quest talk to Turuiemon and initiate a fight. Win this battle, and he will join your cause. He will also hand over Myotismon's Myobrella.

Turuiemon increases the chance of getting better items while Garudamon is out treasure hunting.

Prerequisite

Receive Jijimon's quest to recruit Taomon in Chapter 1.

How to recruit

Kyubimon is the third guardian of Taomon. Before you can battle and recruit her, she will bestow a special kind of challenge upon you. Passing the trial will ease the follow-up battle, failing it, will harden it by a factor of 3 (as 3 Kyubimon will partake instead of just a single). The trial consists of a riddle, of which 9 is the answer. After beating her in the ensuing battle, recruit Taomon, wait a couple of days until Flotia upgrades, and Kyubimon will automatically join.

Prerequisite

Receive Jijimon's quest to recruit Taomon in Chapter 1.

How to recruit

Meramon joins as part of the story in Chapter 1. He is blocking the path to Taomon's Meditation Grounds. Defeat him, recruit Taomon, and a couple of days later, Meramon will join automatically.

Taomon joins as part of the story in Chapter 1. He will give you an Illegal Seed and request it to be planted at Power Plant #2. Once planted, wait around 24 hours and return to the now sprouted and disgusting looking flower. Take the flower back to Taomon, and she will join Flotia.

How to recruit

Minervamon joins as part of a lengthy quest chain. First, talk to Minervamon to receive a Red Gift Box. This present has to be brought over to Dianamon located at the Ice Way Temple in Absolute Zero. In return for the gift, she will hand over Dianamon's Letter that needs to be returned to Minervamon. Doing so will make Minervamon give you the Green Gift Box that needs to be given to Dianamon. Giving Dianamon the Green Gift Box will make her give you the Blue Gift Box that, once again, needs to be returned to Minervamon. After receiving the Blue Gift Box, Minervamon will run to Dianamon where both can be fought. Win against both of them, and they will join.

After you have recruited both KaiserGreymon and MagnaGarurumon, talk to Susanoomon. He wishes for Examon's defeat. Best Examon in the Flame Lands located on Logic Volcano and return to Susanoomon. He will join your city afterward.

Susanoomon boosts your partners' mood when interacted with.

The MOD Cape is the fourth zone accessible right from the start of the game. It can be entered by traveling through the Cave Entrance located in the Nigh Plains. But beware, as two RedVegiemon guard the path to the Cave Entrance. Furthermore, a group of DemiDevimon will also hinder you from approaching the Cave Entrance directly.

How to recruit

DemiDevimon joins after receiving the Holy Chalice. To get a Holy Chalice, you have to beat and recruit Vikemon.

How to recruit

Talk to ExVeemon in the Ship 3.0 Cabin. He sends you out to find Veedramon, who is located on the Freeze Way. After talking to Veedramon and retrieving information about Magnamon, Veedramon will join Flotia. Magnamon can now be found in Noise Storm, but only on a Friday. Once encountered, speak to him in order to initiate a fight, win, and Magnamon will join your cause. If you report back to ExVeemon now, he will join as well.

How to recruit

For Seadramon to join the city, you have to bring him a Digifry, a Digikoi, and a Digicrucian. All of them can be fished up in Nigh Plains, but especially the Digikoi is pretty rare. Give him the fish, and he will join your city.

How to recruit

Zudomon sends you out to find Gumdramon. After finding and recruiting Gumdramon, return to Zudomon, who will then join the city too.

MegaSeadramon will ask for specific fish and, if handed over, will allow you to fish for this particular fish in the specified fishing hole.

How to recruit

To start MarineAngemon's recruitment quest, you first have to talk to her at the oasis in the Server Cemetary after Floatia was upgraded in Chapter 1. Afterward, she moves to the Flag MOD Ship. There, she will task you with retrieving four items. The first item is a Pretty Stone located near the entrance to the Captain's Cabin on the Flag Mod Ship. How to recruit

MagnaGarurumon joins as part of a lengthy quest chain. First, initiate KaiserGreymon's quest. Then, go to the southern part of the Palace of Thorns before noon to find a unique search point containing a Thorny Ivy. Bring the Thorny Ivy back to KaiserGreymon, and he will request a Speed Chip next. Give him this item too, and he will proceed to damage one of your Digimon with a total of 8.000 damage. Now, visit MagnaGarurumon in Layer 01 in the Infinite Cauldron. He will give you ten distinct items you have to return to KaiserGreymon, so make sure that you have room for at least ten items in your inventory. Take the items to KaiserGreymon and return then back to MagnaGarurumon. He will proceed to give you 20 items this time around. Return them to KaiserGreymon too, and both will join the city. Additionally, doing so will cause Susanoomon to appear in Logic Volcano.
